Centre Manager

Are you looking for a job where you can make a difference to a local community? Chinnor Village Centre aims to be the welcoming hub of the village and local area, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds by providing a place to meet and services aimed at ending social isolation. 
 

About The Role

The Centre Manager will oversee the day to day running of centre, making sure we have a safe and welcoming environment. Working with Trustees, you will play a key part in bringing about change at the Centre to ensure its future sustainability and place at the heart of the Chinnor and surrounding villages. This includes seeking out and securing funding opportunities to increase income and providing leadership to our small staff team. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and the Centre Manager will need to promote the Centre as a great place to volunteer. 
 

Key Responsibilites:

  • Ensuring appropriate policies and protocols are in place.

  • Overseeing a programme of works for the refurbishment and updating of the Centre.

  • Line manage our 7 staff.

  • Produce financial reports and plans, working with our Treasurer and Bookkeeper.

  • Identify and lead the application process for grants and funding.

  • Provide governance and admin support to the Board of Trustees.
     

The post is offered at £35,000 to £38,000 fte per year (actual up to £30,400 for 30 hours per week). Other benefits include 25 days holiday per year pro rata and a workplace pension scheme. The postholder will need to be on site for the majority of time.

Ad-hoc Cook

Flexible hours – as required

JOB SUMMARY

About The Role

We're looking for people with a passion for food prep and cooking – and experience of working in a café, restaurant or other food environment.
 

Key Responsibilites:

  • Assist with the preparation and cooking of hot and cold food items in line with café menus and daily requirements.

  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, measuring, and portioning food.

  • Support Café Manager and kitchen team in the production and service of meals and refreshments.

  • Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served in accordance with food hygiene and food safety regulations.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and inventory checks.

  • Assist with setting up and clearing down kitchen and service areas before and after service.

  • Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner when required.

  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately using the till system.

  • Cash up tills at the end of service, reconcile takings, and complete basic financial records as required.

  • Support the wider café team with general duties to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the community café.

  • Follow all health and safety, safeguarding, and organisational policies and procedures.

  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for customers, volunteers, and community members.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in food preparation and basic cooking.

  • Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Flexible and reliable approach to work.

Part-time Bookkeeper

Flexible hours – half or full day each week

JOB SUMMARY

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced bookkeeper
 

Key Responsibilites:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems for the charity.

  • Process sales and purchase invoices, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and petty cash records.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including monitoring outstanding payments and issuing reminders where necessary.

  • Assist the Treasurer with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.

  • Support budget monitoring and provide financial information to management as required.

  • Maintain organised filing systems for financial documentation, both electronic and paper-based.

  • Process cash receipts and payments, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation.

  • Assist with year-end financial procedures and audit preparation.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information at all times.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous bookkeeping or finance administration experience.

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial procedures.

  • Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero or QuickBooks).

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.

  • Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Professional approach to handling confidential information.
